Located in Vincentown, the William K Haines Schoolhouse was a one-room private school built in 1860.

While the exact date of schoolhouse’s opening and closing is unknown, the most famous school master was William K. Haines, also known as Billy K. Haines, who lived on Plum Street with his school teacher wife, Mary.

The schoolhouse was originally located on Main Street. When the Allen Oil Company took over the property on Main Street, the Schoolhouse was donated to the Southampton Historical Society. The Schoolhouse was relocated to property across from Saw Mill Park. The restoration of the schoolhouse was led by resident, Maryann Thompson, who helped to put together volunteer efforts and donations. The schoolhouse was re-dedicated on May 19, 1984. Many members of the community, including local residents and county and state officials, attended the re-dedication.
